I haven't watched Juno yet (it's next in line in my screeners queue), but Tang Wei could be hard to beat. If not, I'd bet they go for Blonsky.

7 nominations! More than any other films! And 'Atonement' was...lovely to listen to?

The big news for me is that 'Once' has started to surge. Best Picture nomination from the Chicago Film Critics and a Board mention. It's likely for a Golden Globe Comedy/Musical nomination and maybe a Producer's Guild nod as well. That means 'Once' could make a stand starting now.

(keep in mind, barely like the film. but others do)

'Juno''s Jason Reitman is a better director than Sean Penn.

'The Assassination of Jesse James' gets three nominations, including one for its beautiful, haunting score.

Michael Cera better win that fucking thing.

If BFCS and Hollywood Foreign Press bail on Atonement and Sweeney Todd (which I don't think they'll do) those films are in big trouble. I wonder if Michael Clayton will be the competition now. Chicago seems to love it - 6 Nominations in their strongest categories, and a double nod for Gilroy

And Sweeney Todd hasn't been mentioned anywhere since the National Board of Review, has it?
