The tallies are up for 1957.

Funny Face leads our list of recommendations with 15 mentions, followed by Throne of Blood with 13; Paths of Glory and The Bridge on the River Kwai with 12 each; An Affair to Remember and Witness for the Prosecution with 11 each; Peyton Place, Pyaasa and Sayonara with 10 each; 12 Angry Men and Sweet Smell of Success with 9 each; The Cranes Are Flying with 8; The Seventh Seal and White Nights with 7 each; Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, Les Girls, Nights of Cabiria, The Incredible Shrinking Man and The Sun Also Rises with 6 each and A Face in the Crowd, Designing Woman, He Who Must Die, Nightfall, The Tarnished Angels and Tokyo Twilight with 5 each.

In all there were 280 votes for 68 films.

With all that there are still some shocking errors of omission, which I wish I had a fourth turn to try and correct. I believe the failure to mention a full 50% of Oscar's acting nominees for the year is a first. I expect Reza to have his longest list of the overlooked yet.

We haven't heard form Cinemanolis. Rudeboy could also make an appearance. Let's give it another day.

1957 was a great year for film and ten or eleven recommendations per category is rather lame for such a bountiful year so I think a third round for the few who are participating this year is in order.

Those who agree, please make your selections.
