This is a great list. I agree with all except probably Ellen Burstyn in The Exorcist. I was definitely for Joanne Woodward that year. This was a tough one as Marie Christine-Barrult, Diahann Carroll, Diana Ross, Ellen Burstyn ( Resurrection), and Kathleen Turner are some of my all time favorite losers ( meaning I think they should have won) I am going to have to go with Diana Ross here with MC-B in close second.

The Biggest Oscar Disappointments ( Actress 70-89)

The following are my list of Actress' in a Leading role who should have won over the actual winner. There are some doubles. ( I think it should have been a tie with those). If I had to choose one. It would have been Diana Ross over Liza Minelli in Lady Sings the Blues. Followed by Sally Kirkland in Anna over Cher. and lastly Carol Kane in Hester Street over Louise Fletcher. I forgot to add to the post. Isabelle Adjani for Camille Claudel. She would have my vote over Sally Kirkland
