If John Hawkes gets nominated for Winter's Bone, it will make me very happy.

When I first read these nominations, they looked like a set of Oscar predictions.

They nominated Julianne Moore for A Single Mn last year when few other groups did.

On the surface, these appear to be decent nods. No Best Picture or Director nominations for The King's Speech is a little surprising as is the lack of notice for Rabbit Hole aside from Nicole Kidman and the complete shut-out of Blue Valentine.

I wonder what's behind Anne Hathaway's nomination. Did they really like her, or is it spillover for her being tapped to co-host the Oscars?

No nomination for Lesley Manville? That's a surprise from a critics group.

And they call themselves film critics. I find it very hard to believe that anyone who is serious about cinema could not find at least one foreign language performance to nominate.

Maybe theses should be called the Washington DC Area Mainstream Movie Reviewer's Nominations.
