The earliest Oscars ever! So much for wishful thinking about pushing the ceremony back to combat award fatigue, which apparently this early ceremony is supposed to offset!

Schedule set for nominations, Academy Awards

Oscar nominations will be unveiled Jan 22, with the ceremony to be held Feb. 22, according to the timetable released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
Nomination ballots for the 81st annual Academy Awards will be mailed out on Dec. 26, with the nom ballots due by 5 p.m. PT on Jan. 12.

After noms are unveiled, Jan. 22, final ballots will be mailed out on Jan. 28. Final polls close at 5 p.m. PT on Feb. 17.

The Nominees Luncheon will be held on Feb. 2, followed by the Scientific and Technical Achievement Awards on Feb. 7.

The 81st Academy Awards, to held at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Feb. 22, will be broadcast live on the ABC Television Network.
