Best Picture

Atonement
Into the Wild
Michael Clayton
No Country for Old Men
Sweeney Todd

Still relatively up in the air, certainly more so than we've come to expect for this time of year. Only No Country seems set in stone although the good feeling I've had all along about Into the Wild is looking solid.

Best Director

Tim Burton - Sweeney Todd
The Coen brothers - No Country for Old Men
Sean Penn - Into the Wild
Julien Schnabel - The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Joe Wright - Atonement

Best Actor

George Clooney - Michael Clayton
Daniel Day-Lewis - There Will Be Blood
Johnny Depp - Sweeney Todd
Ryan Gosling - Lars and the Real Girl
Viggo Mortensen - Eastern Promises

Day-Lewis and Clooney are in. Depp may be on shaky ground but I think he'll make it. Gosling and Mortensen could go either way but it's hard to ignore their consistent track record so far, turning up everywhere this season. Emile Hirsch, Denzel Washington or James McAvoy could still boot one or more of these guys out.

Best Actress

Julie Christie - Away From Her
Marion Cotillard - La vie en rose
Anjelina Jolie - A Mighty Heart
Keira Knightley - Atonement
Ellen Page - Juno

Please not Blanchett... not for that film... are contenders really so thin on the ground? I could still see Laura Linney but she needs a small miracle after being so consistently overlooked. Bonham Carter too if they go mad for Sweeney. If Amy Adams couldn't get a SAG nod then, thank goodness, her chances seem to have evaporated.

Best Supporting Actor

Casey Affleck - The Assassination of Jesse James
Javier Bardem - No Country for Old Men
Philip Seymour Hoffman - Charlie Wilson's War
Hal Holbrook - Into the Wild
Tom Wilkinson - Michael Clayton

Best Supporting Actress

Cate Blanchett - I'm Not There
Catherine Keener - Into the Wild
Vanessa Redgrave - Atonement
Amy Ryan - Gone Baby Gone
Tilda Swinton - Michael Clayton

Best Original Screenplay

Juno
Eastern Promises
Lars and the Real Girl
Michael Clayton
Ratatouille

Best Adapted Screenplay

Atonement
Away From Her
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Into the Wild
No Country for Old Men

Best Cinematography

The Assassination of Jesse James
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Lust, Caution
No Country for Old Men
There Will Be Blood

And to clarify, by Final 2007 predictions, I mean the last predictions made before 2008. These are not my final 80th Oscars predictions.

Now that SAG's nods are out of the way and nothing new iss happening before year's end, I updated my predictions last night and have posted them in the usual place.

Feel free to share your own predictions or DISCUSS predictions. Non-discussions or snide/rude posts WILL be deleted.
