Surprising omissions: The Color Purple and Wonka.
I wonder if Wonka went for Period Film or Sci-Fi/Fantasy? It had to, right? And Best Period Costume Design seems like a rock solid group of contenders that would be hard to crack.

For both Production Design & Costume Design, it feels like there are six strong classical contenders:
*Barbie
*Killers of the Flower Moon
*Maestro
*Napoleon
*Oppenheimer
*Poor Things

If there's one more to get in, it might end up being The Little Mermaid. Coleen Atwood has a very good track record and Disney Live-Action Films have a tendency to show up here.

As for The Color Purple, it probably matters how stacked Period Costume Design is as well as the fact that Francine Jamison-Tanchuck isn't really in the club yet. But it's a lavish $100m movie musical and a nomination here should be a no brainer. I'm not seeing a lot of guild support. I predicted it in the Magilla's last predictions of the year largely due to the fact that I was having second thoughts about other contenders but The Color Purple is looking like if it shows up for Best Picture it might ave the fewest nominations of a Best Picture nominee this year.
