Every branch is going to vote for EEAAO. It’s like Shape of Water. And these are reasonably competitive categories.

The Winners:

Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film:
Everything Everywhere All At Once

Excellence in Contemporary Film:
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Excellence in Period Film:
Elvis

At the Oscars its probably going to be Wakanda & Elvis neck-to-neck.

I guess The Fabelmans missing out is the big news?

Except for 2019, where the CDG didn't nominate The Irishman, Joker, or Little Women, this group lines up with the eventual Best Costume Design nominees pretty well. 5/5 in 2021, 5/5 in 2020, 4/5 in 2018 (missing The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), 3/5 in 2017 (missing Darkest Hour, Victoria & Abdul). So, a nomination for The Fabelmans is still in the cards. Or something out of left field like Amsterdam or Corsage.

Babylon, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Elvis, and The Woman King look like the likeliest contenders for a nomination to me. Next in the running would be Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, designed by Jeanny Beaven who just won last year (with eleven total nominations), Shirley Kurata for Everything Everywhere All At Once (there are a lot of costumes), or Adrianna Phillips for Don't Worry Darling (three previous nominations).

Actually, The Woman King's costume designer Gersha Phillips might not be a sure thing. She's a relative newcomer to the scene.
