GALECA is the only organization so far that I know will be eliminating gender-based categories this year. They swore up and down to the membership that there was a parity between male and female winners in the past when they've looked at numbers, but I find that argument suspect. Regardless, since the Gothams are committee-nominated, they have the ability to massage and manipulate the final list to ensure parity. The winners, on the other hand, might give us more information about the trends.

GALECA doesn't have nominating committees, so that would be the group to look at to see if women outnumber men or not. Of course, each year's going to fluctuate, so we'll have to see how that works over time.

While I doubt the Oscars will ever adopt this in any of our lifetimes, I could definitely see critic groups doing this, particularly those with younger memberships. If so, it will be interesting to see if male performers are nominated at a higher rate than female performers.
I'd guess that any group that went this route would bend over backwards to push female and non-binary performers.

They may be a precursor but they're not much of an indicator given that eligibility is capped at films costing under $35 million.

Biggest surprise is that Mass, which was eligible, has just one nomination.
