Yes, even when I didn't agree with him, he was always interesting to listen to in interviews and DVD commentaries, as opposed to some of the newer people doing these things.
There's one guy whose name escapes me who is a TCM "historian" who has a shrill whistle to his voice. Every time I try to listen to him I have to turn off the commentary because I think my smoke alarms are going off. NY Film Festival director Kent Jones is another one who annoys me with his pregnant pauses, changing the subject in mid-sentence and so on, to say nothing of this getting dates wrong.
