You guys might wanna be careful. I think a few people here still visit/post at Gold Derby (or used to) and I've seen Big Ted lurking around here as well (oh wait, he's at Backstage now right? These damn message board politics!) I know Sonic Youth used to post at Gold Derby, not sure if he still does. But yeah, I wouldn't put everyone at Gold Derby in the same category.

Do you mean, when Tilda won or when Marion was named?

This is a thread about Best Actress, not Supporting Actress :;):

By the way, Ellen Page was the most acclaimed.

Were you replying to my question? In that case, I was refering to a man, maybe his father.

Does someone know who was sitting next to Marion Cotillard at Oscar night?

And it may not have been just "Oscar fever". I checked on youtube too, and she didn't pay tribute to Edith Piaf in her BAFTA speech either - and while she did mention her in her Cesar speech, it's only in an undirect way (like, thanking her director for "having given me Piaf").

It's the kind of honest, unsentimental approach that I feel very close to.

Like the entire Oscarcast itself?

I loved her speech too, and her genuine reaction. Best moment of the night (I re-checked it on youtube and you're right, she didn't mention Piaf). I hope her next film role involves various states of undress.

Yes, this is understandable.

Nobody seems to have noticed, by the way, that (unless I didn't hear it) Cotillard - unintentionally, of course, and probably because of her emotional state - during her speech didn't thank or even mention the real-life person she had played (she may have done it later in the pressroom). If she really didn't, this is like breaking an American ritual (like all rituals, empty and meaningless), and I liked it - she's truly European.

Goldderbyville. Where the Mayor also serves as the Village Idiot.

Hmm, then again maybe it IS possible to have dual citizenship at UAADB and Gold Derby...
