The Holdovers now sits at 83 on metacritic. Hard to see it not continuing upward. Tee is right about general consensus of this as a quality year for Oscar films.

I’ll say that my biggest question mark is The Color Purple. I’m predisposed to writing it off as an underperforming winter musical but maybe it will turn out to be good.

Agree with all your top 8 category predictions except for 2 in Best Director, 1 in Best Actress, and 2 in Best Supporting Actress.

Disagree on Greta Gerwig and Jonathan Glazer over Bradley Cooper and Alexander Payne in Direction. Disagree with Margot Robbie over Fantasia Barrino in Actress although that could change. Disagree with Emily Blunt and Rosamund Pike over Danielle Brooks and Penélope Cruz in Supporting Actress.
