I forget which site it was, but someone accidentally listed James Horner as the composer of Lust, Caution instead of Alexandre Desplat in their predictions. I thought that was interesting.

I find it a bit odd that they nominated Before the Devil Knows You're Dead for Best Ensemble, but didn't single out anyone for the acting categories.

The BFCA website still lists only 4 nods for Song...I wonder how long until they notice?

I can't wait to see Zooey Deschanel's take on Janis Joplin. That's one biopic I'm really excited for. Is Charlize Theron still doing Dusty Springfield?

Tin Man was a poorly-engineered revision of the wizard of oz story on sci-fi channel with a futuristic bent. It was pretty to look at, but void of emotional depth and lacking in top notch performances, Zooey Deschanel and Alan Cumming notwithstanding.

The fifth nominee is "Guaranteed" from "Into The Wild".

Correction: "Guaranteed" from Into the Wild is the fifth nominee for best song. vh1.com has the full list but you have to go from screen to screen for each category.

I don't get the Tin Man reference. It's one of four nominees for best TV movie. The BFCA doesn't give out tech awards.

I'm kind of surprised--but happy--they nominated Hirsch in Lead Actor rather than in the Younger Actor category, where he still would've been eligible. (Not sure what the cutoff is, but if Paul Dano and Jesse Eisenberg were nominated for Young Actor at age 22 in the past two years, Hirsch should've made it.)

Yet they nominate Freddie Highmore - again - for a movie no one saw, rather than Josh Hutcherson, an actor with infinitely more range and promise.

What strikes me first about this list:

Starfuckers.

What strikes me next about this list:
I have no respect for a group that nominates Tin Man for anything other than tech awards.

What strikes me next:
Yay for AnnaSophia Robb who was absolutely amazing in Bridge to Terabithia.

If those supporting line-ups carried over to the Oscars, I'd be pleased.

This is rather upsetting to me; I mean, how can you recognize Atonement without also recognizing James McAvoy? I'm assuming that Gosling and Mortensen are out come Oscar time, leaving Hirsch and McAvoy taking their places...or, at least, I hope (well, except for the Hirsch part--fine performance, but not Oscar-nomination worthy).

Julie Christie - La Vie en Rose

...that's a very interesting development! :;):
This should read:

Best Actress
Amy Adams - Enchanted
Cate Blanchett - Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Julie Christie - Away From Her
Marion Cotillard - La Vie en Rose
Angelina Jolie - A Mighty Heart
Ellen Page - Juno

Initial reactions:

Nice lift for Into the Wild - best actor, supporting actor, supporting actress, director, screenplay, but oddly not song where there are only four nominees.

Vanessa Redgrave is the only nominee from Atonement in the top four acting categories though Saoirse Ronan is nominated for best young actress.

No love for Laura Linney, Helena Bonham Carter or PT Anderson.
