Man, how true... Cher's image in Moonstruck is one to remember.kaytodd wrote:[ When I was a kid in the 1970's Cher never did a thing for me, though several of my male friends had the hots for her big time. But my opinion of her appearance changed as she reached middle age and I saw her in Silkwood, Mask and especially Moonstruck. She was turning into a beautiful middle aged woman.

From Animated Film: "It has Pixar’s award-winning team (since the category was created, Cars is the only Pixar pic not to win this category)."
One more little quibble. Pixar's Monsters, Inc. also lost the Oscar.

Great writeups OG, you have captured the "oh well" essence of this year's Oscar race, which has turned into a big shrug for us expecting a Slumdog sweep. I don't think I've been less excited by the Oscars than this year (in 2003 I was wholeheartedly cheering for LOTR, though I didn't see the sweep coming) and I will frankly be glad when its over, barring any major upsets.
I don't think she has aged badly. She is a beautiful 45 year old woman who looks 45. If she has had any work done on her face it is subtle.Reza wrote:flipp525 wrote:kaytodd wrote:Josh is now married to Diane Lane. Sweet!
All my straight male friends are obsessed with Diane Lane. They even go to movies like Must Like Dogs just to see her. They have Unfaithful practically memorized and watch it like it's porn. My cousin has her in his top three fantasy lays (alongside Carrie Underwood and Jessica Biel).
Diane Lane is incredibly hot even though she has aged so badly.....and so soon.
And I would like to join the group of men who have her on their list of fantasy lays. Even a happily married guy like myself cannot help but thinking about it.
This is getting off topic, but we can all think of many celebrities, male and female, who have ruined their appearance with plastic surgery and would have looked much better had they let themselves age. When I was a kid in the 1970's Cher never did a thing for me, though several of my male friends had the hots for her big time. But my opinion of her appearance changed as she reached middle age and I saw her in Silkwood, Mask and especially Moonstruck. She was turning into a beautiful middle aged woman. Needless to say, beautiful is not the word to describe her face now (her body looks nice). I regret that I will never know what Cher would have looked like had she not lost her mind.

Thanks for the compliments, kay...and good grief. My spreadsheets of oscar nominee/winner relations even show Babs as his step-mother...sheesh. I'll have to change that.

Damn! I can't believe I missed that in my proof-reading.kaytodd wrote:Three excellent articles OG! Enjoyed reading them. One minor quibble: Josh Brolin is the offspring of James Brolin and his first wife, Jane Agee.
A better description would be "Josh Brolin, who is the son of actor James Brolin and the stepson of Barbra Streisand as well as the husband of recent best actress nominee Diane Lane..."

Three excellent articles OG! Enjoyed reading them. One minor quibble: Josh Brolin is the offspring of James Brolin and his first wife, Jane Agee. I think she was an aspiring actress at Fox when they were both under contract there in the 1960's. I don't think she ever had a featured part in a feature film or TV show. But I understand that in the 1970's while her husband was at the height of his fame on Marcus Welby, M.D. she became known as a wildlife activist.
While Josh's mother is not Babs, it does seem he came from good genes from both his mother and father.
BTW, these Brolin men have done OK in the female department. I have seen pictures of Jane Agee and she was a knockout (I understand she was killed in an auto accident about ten years ago). He then moved onto Jan Smithers and then to Barbara Streisand. Josh is now married to Diane Lane. Sweet!

I think my entire point was that it was an utterly forgettable song. I can't remember a word of it or how it even sounded. Even knowing where it is in the film doesn't help me remember it...and that drives my point that, it's likely, most Academy voters will feel the same way and thereby pick "Jai Ho" because it sticks with them as the film ends.
