Fuck you and go to hell you fucking troll.
If anyone were to say that to my face, I don't care who they are, I would kick their ass. This is one of the most offensive things that anyone has ever accused me of in my entire life.

I don't have a problem with a black Bond, but he absolutely must be British. That cannot be debated.
That's different, though. Felix Leiter is not James Bond. James Bond is an iconic character that everyone in the world knows. He's always been a white British secret agent for over 45 years.
It's also worth pointing out that Casino Royale was a re-boot of the franchise and shares no continuity with the previous films, so it wasn't like he just magically changed races or anything. Felix Leiter was also mauled by a shark and lost a leg in License to Kill, but he has all his appendages intact in the new films.
Also, Jeffrey Wright wasn't the first black actor to play Felix Leiter. Bernie Casey portrayed him in Never Say Never Again (which, by the way, wasn't an official EON Bond film).
They did change the gender of M in Goldeneye, but they explained that she was a new M. You can't get a "new" James Bond. The only way they could cast a black actor and make it believable would be to explain that James Bond is just a code name for every agent who holds the code number 007, but that would make no sense because Tracy Bond from the Lazenby film is referred to in both the Moore and Dalton Bond films, and is hinted at in one of the Brosnan films (as well as in Connery's Diamonds Are Forever).

Okri is correct: British refers to the British Isles, hence anybody from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.rolotomasi99 wrote:Penelope wrote:I don't have a problem with a black Bond, but he absolutely must be British. That cannot be debated.
sean connery is scottish. timothy dalton is welsh. pierce brosnan is irish. roger moore and daniel craig are english.
i am assuming british just means some from the united kingdom. i have always been confused what "british" actually referred to. it is like saying you are "american", when there are more than a dozen countries in the american continents.
It's worth pointing out that George Lazenby is from Australia.

I always took British to mean someone from the British Isles, which means Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England, with the United Kingdom referring to all but Ireland, and Great Britain referring to Scotland, England and Wales.
I have no problem with a black Bond, but it should definitely not be Jamie Foxx. I don't know if I think he should be British or not.

i think the first black bond should be angela bassett. if we are going to change the character's race, we might as well change genders. with arms like that, i could totally believe her as an ass kicking spy. i agree bond should stay british, but i would hate to see a skinny stick like thandie newton be cast.
as for jamie foxx, he just really needs to go away. after his best actor oscar he has become more insufferable than kevin spacey after his best actor win. he has turned into a complete diva and has allowed his ego to get bigger than his talent can justify.

I don't mean to sound racist or anything, but I hope that there is never a black Bond. James Bond is, and should always remain, white. Diversity is good and all, but a black Bond is a little too far out there.
I mean, people complained about Daniel Craig's blonde hair. I can't even imagine what people would say if a black actor got the role of James Bond.

Well, Colin Salmon was one rumored replacement for Brosnan before Daniel Craig got the job. He would carry the role well, I think. Whoever it is, should definitely be British though. Chiwetel Ejiofor could do it. Can't think of too many other prominent black British actors of the right age though...
