Even though i was tempted to preserve Judi Dench, i won't do something to change FilmFan's choices

Group I
Best Actress
I was between Kristin Scott Thomas 'The Horse Whisperer' and Holly Hunter 'Living Out Loud', but finally Meryl Streep's performance is replaced by Rachel Griffiths 'Hilary and Jackie'.

Group II
'Like a Friend' - Great Expectations replaces 'That'll Do'

Group III
Preserve 'The Thin Red Line' in Sound

Group One
Anjelina Jolie (Playing by Heart) replaces Kathy Bates

Group Two
Preserve The Thin Red Line's cinematography. At the beginning of the round I thought this was perhaps the safest individual achievement - but nope, and I'm preserving it before it's too late.

Group Three
Blade replaces Elizabeth in makeup

Did you think she was supporting, though?

Group 1: Replace Rachel Griffiths in Best Supporting Actress with Kimberly Elise for her quietly devastating turn as Denver in Beloved.

Group 2: Replace Saving Private Ryan's Dramatic Score with Marco Beltrami's for 54.

Group 3: Preserve Saving Private Ryan in Best Sound.

A love/hate movie loses nominations in a round covering by FAR the most contentious year in UAADB history? I'm shocked!

I was quite close to replacing it there, actually, just to be an irritant (and because I don't think it's all that great).

But it's score is fantastic.

I know. We failed. There are so many other movies I want to put in (basically just 'Rushmore') that I've forgotten to protect the flag. 'The Thin Red Line' is the most gloriously atypical aberration in the Academy's history this side of 'Munich' and we're going to see it go...sad.

That and Original Score are the only two categories where it deserves preservation.
