Good Lord. The ceremony's barely over. I'll come back to this thread after the dust settles on this year. (Or maybe I'm just holding off because I've always considered this Mister Tee's thread.)

I see Linney, Blanchett and Clooney coming back very soon, the first one winning in the next 2 or 3 years in the lead category.

I expect to see Bardem back for the film version of Nine. Day-Lewis, probably, whenever he makes another film. Christie, if she makes another one.

Ruby Dee has several films in the can so it's possible she'll be back next year.

Clooney, Swinton, Linney, Blacnhett and Ryan are hot right now, so it's highly possible they will all be back. Wilkinson is always working so sure, he might be back and actually win some day soon.

Depp might be played out. Cotillard might be a one-trick pony. Affleck's future could be bright or he could be looking back on 2007 as his best year - hard to say. Jones and Mortensen depend on the kinds of offers they get. They are both character stars and Mortensen would seem to have a good many years ahead of him, so it's quite possible we'll see him back. Jones, I don't know - will he work steadily like Robert Duvall in his later years or will he be content to spend most of his time on his ranch?

Ellen Page seems poised to have one of the great careers so we may be seeing her quite a bit in the future, though a win would seem to be years off.

Hoffman, in supporting roles only.

As for the directors, with four wins already, it's doubful the Coenes will win again anytime soon but they could certainly be nominated. Ditto Anderson and Schnabel. Reitman, maybe. Gilroy, about as likely as Paul Haggis.

Ronan's career could take off or she could go the way of Peggy Ann Garner and slowly disappear while still quite young.

I might as well start this.

BEST ACTOR:
Clooney - Yes. And he'll win again for Lead.
Day-Lewis - Hmmm. Tough to say but I'll say yes.
Depp - Yes and he'll win someday.
Jones - Probably not in Lead.
Mortensen - Yes. But I doubt he'll win.

BEST ACTRESS:
Blanchett - Yes and she'll win one or two more before she's through.
Christie - I don't know. I heard Away from Her will be her last film.
Cotillard - I'm leaning towards probably not
Linney - Yes. She'll probably win but in Supporting.
Page - I'm leaning towards yes.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Affleck - Yes.
Bardem - I don't know. Maybe.
Hoffman - Yes but he probably won't win again.
Holbrook - Hard to say since he is over 80. Probably not.
Wilkinson - Yes. He might even win for Supporting one of these days.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Blanchett - Yes but she'll win again in Lead.
Dee - (see Hal Holbrook)
Ronan - If The Lovely Bones turn out great, watch out.
Ryan - If the Oscar nomination leads to more steady film work, I say it's possible.
Swinton - She might get another nom in Lead.

DIRECTOR:
Schnabel - Doubtful.
Reitman - Maybe.
Gilroy - Nah.
Coens - Maybe
Anderson - Yes.
