I miss the old Harvard Lampoon awards which were given not to the obvious garbage that most people in their right midns wouldn't sit through, but the year's most pretentious films that people with straight faces call entertainment. This year the ward would have to go to 300.

Still, the Raspberries used to be fun, now they're just depressing reminders of the crap that passes for entertainment these days. A special sour grapes award should be given Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood and all the rest of the so-called entertainment news programs that continue to perpetrate the myth that Paris, Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, et. al. really matter. The coverage this past week given to a forthcoming straight-to-video release starring thsoe two middle aged whores, Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards, was especially sickening.

Extra special awards should be given Tom Cruise for the shameless way he promotes himself even at the premiere of his wife's movie which has nothing to do with him, and Dr. Phil for the shameless way he promotes himself even sticking his nose into the latest Brtiney mess.

These are my predictions, not the actual nominees (and I put Robin Williams in supporting).
"Young men make wars and the virtues of war are the virtues of young men: courage and hope for the future. Then old men make the peace, and the vices of peace are the vices of old men: mistrust and caution." -- Alec Guinness (Lawrence of Arabia)

If Dane Cook doesn't win this year, I'll be astonished.
