Congratulations, Akash, I hope you have a wonderful summer abroad, and although you'll miss your NY friends, you're sure to make new ones where ever you go!

I know this is kind of obnoxious, but I just graduated from college! Did anyone else here graduate this year? It's exciting and sad, especially since I'm spending the summer abroad and won't get to hang out longer with all my wonderful friends in NY.

But yayy to graduating!

I used to be a twink but now I'm a hardcore gym bunny. And smooth.

I'm sure it was probably hairy guys who liked hairy guys but they were thin and liked them thin and found that when they responded to "bear" ads, they kept getting the heavy hirsuits...so, they probably wanted their own nomenclature to fit with the community while still retaining an individual identity.

I don't have any clue where the concept of "otters" came from, but I guess I qualify.

Well, bears are generally considered to be hairy, heavy/stocky guys in their 30s or older;

I guess I am a bear and could audition for a part if they decide to remake Gentle Ben. On the other hand I may not get the part! I'm hairy but not that heavy/stocky - but certainly not an otter!

It's that time of the year - the dry spell between Oscars when there is nothing much to discuss about films. Hence my absurd comments about bears and otters.

Mid-Atlantic Leather (MAL) weekend is always huge in DC. All the bears (and otters and cubs) proudly take to the streets. It's kind of fun to see. The big leather bar in town (Titan) has a picture of a twink with a cross over it as if to say "No Twinks Allowed!". The gay community these days is just as striated as society as a whole, it seems. There are pockets of subcultures within it. Not every gay guy is the same which is what the denizens of the American heartland and Bible Belt fail to realize most of the time.

Is there a contingent of “staddling the threshold of 30” on this board? Because I’ve got less than a year to go and I’m starting to freak out a little. The fact that I’m dating someone two years younger than me definitely helps though.

It's the Miss America Pageant for the gay leather community...

Drag queens have one, too.

I didn't know they allowed ''minors'' in Chicago gay bars?

No, it was the International Mr. Leather contest this weekend, so Sabin woulda been a young pup in one of the bars this weekend.

I can see clearly two majorities in that board: the age range 46-50 to which I belong, and the second one composed by ages 18-25.
