The Emmys reminded me that Newhart should come out with a new show.

I don't watch any television series, nominated or unnominated. I didn't see any of the movies or mini-series. But I did watch the Emmys on and off. And maybe part of the reason I enjoyed it is because I had no rooting interest in any of the nominees. But I thought it was a really good show. And I thought Conan was wonderful. Kudos to the writers! Great Mel Gibson line, too.

And Bob Newhart should be locked up for every awards program. That was hilarious. Newhart is so funny, he gets a laugh by not saying anything. So maybe he should host these things from now on. If Conan can't host the Oscars, give Bob a call.

His years of doing everything in his power not to look like a sweaty mess have rendered Conan the perfect host. He couldn't look more at ease. Even his clunkers are priceless.
