Do we know that it's being listed as a Comedy or Musical?
No. The studios are not cooperating with the Globes and submitting their films in categories of their preference, but it seems like a Globes thing to consider it a comedy.

This is a complete turnaround from their announcement of just a few weeks ago setting deadlines for submissions of which they probably got none. No one wants to be seen as cooperating with them, although they are all secretly hoping to get the recognition.

Thanks, Sonic, for making the (completely appropriate) snarky comment so that I didn’t have to.

I'm so glad they're "proud" to announce the timetable. Since very little seems to shame them, I suppose it doesn't take much to make them feel proud.

Press Release (11/7/2021)

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is proud to announce the Awards timetable for the 79th Annual Golden Globe® Awards. Nominations will be announced on Monday, December 13, 2021, with Award winners announced on January 9, 2022.

In an effort to be as inclusive as possible this year, the HFPA has revised its submission process for Award consideration. In the past, studios, networks and streamers were asked to submit their films, shows and talent in specific categories: for instance, film A might be submitted as a comedy, with talent B as lead actor and talent C as supporting actor. This information was then collected by the HFPA and formatted to a reminders list where voters would be able easily to find the categories for their potential nominees.

For this year, however, submissions will not be required for Award consideration. Each film and TV project will automatically be eligible as long as it was released during the calendar year of 2021. All eligible films and shows will be included in the reminders list, which is overseen by a select panel that has been assembling a breakdown of all product released throughout the year, and an assignment of relevant categories. Studios, networks and streamers will still have the option to be accommodated if they choose to submit their suggestions for specific categories.

IMBd. classifies it as a biographical drama.

The last two Golden Globe winners for Drama were Renée Zellweger in Judy and Andra Day in The United States vs Billie Holliday so they would probably make the same placement for Jennifer Hudson's Aretha Franklin in Respect.
