Could be, or maybe it was the reference to Ryan O'Neal that threw her or her staff.

Actually she did have staff who responded. I know someone who received a signed photo during the late 1960s. And I did too when I wrote her during the 1980s. Grant's letter may have been mislaid or most probably went to the wrong address. It was funny seeing the familiar Kate Hepburn letterhead that Melissa McCarthy holds in "Can You Ever Believe Me?". I have one too. A short typed thank you note signed by Hepburn in ink.
