Re: Golden Globes prediction contest!
I have multiple dilemmas here:
1) The past several years have convinced me the only way to win here is to go suicide on all choices -- the points you lose for hedging your bets seem to invariably outweigh the gains you make for a good second-place pick. But this is a year where I feel less than confident about several categories.
2) Boyhood seems to me not a Globes pick (as Hurt Locker wasn't). The Imitation Game seems very much a Globes pick. However...Tyldum isn't nominated for best director, and that's more crucial than you might guess. I went back 50 years, and found literally only one best film-drama -- Scent of a Woman -- whose director was not a nominee.
3) Most of you have probably heard that HFPA's web site earlier today showed Selma and Into the Woods as winners for film-drama and film-musical/comedy. This recalls the inadvertent post of Anne Hathaway for Rachel Getting Married in 2008, which turned out just an innocent mistake. Because it was two films this time -- and two plausible winners, given Globe taste -- I'm not finding it as easy to dismiss them as possible accidental leak.
All that exhaustively said, my with-no-backup choices:
Film-Drama: Selma
Film-Musical/Comedy: Birdman
Actor-Drama: Eddie Redmayne
Actor-Musical/Comedy: Michael Keaton
Actress-Drama: Julianne Moore
Actress-Musical/Comedy: Emily Blunt
Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons
Supporting Actress: Emma Stone (ru: Patricia Arquette)
(if not, Simmons/Arquette are Waltz/M'onique, and we may almost never have a truly competitive supporting race again)
Director: Alejandro G. Innaritu
Screenplay: The Grand Budapest Hotel
Foreign Film: Ida
Animated Feature: The Lego Movie
Song: "Glory"
Score: The Imitation Game

Golden Globes prediction contest!
What the hell. Let's do it again!
You know the rules but to refresh your memory:
1. Pick a winner and an optional runner-up in all the FILM categories.
2. A correct prediction with a runner-up earns 2 points.
3. A correct runner-up prediction earns 1 point.
4. A correct prediction without a runner-up earns 3 points.
5. Most accumulated points win.
6. Deadline is the moment Tina and Amy hit the stage and start their opening monologue.
