Reza wrote:Guardians of the Galaxy - a comedy or a musical?
Is this really a serious prediction?
It's a comedy and yes, it's a serious prediction.
And is Maps to the Stars a contender this year?
Yes, it was given a one-week qualifying run in L.A. last week despite prior protestations to the contrary. However, the hone-week rule has never been a Golden Globe disqualifier. For example, they nominated Opening Night in 1977 with just a one day showing in L.A. I'm sure there are other examples, but I can't recall them off hand.
I'm fascinated by how many people are predicting Angelina Jolie to get film and/or directing nods, despite the film's dire critical response (I mean, truly: 59 on Metacritic. War Horse, at 74, was Boyhood by comparison). Is it assumed the HFPA's star-whoring knows no bounds? I know, there was The Tourist...but that was under comedy, which only gets half-attention, anyway. Drama is IMPORTANT.
As usual, I'm hoping for lots of curveball choices that make the race harder for the bloggers to spoil. A couple of new names for supporting actress. Unexpected (preferably good) films in best film-drama. Some songs I've never heard of.
