Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Timothée Chalamet - Call Me By Your Name
Gary Oldman - Darkest Hour
James Franco - The Disaster Artist
Daniel Day Lewis - Phantom Thread
Jake Gyllenhaal - Stronger
It's hard to tell if Kaluuya is a nonstarter. If 'Get Out' does so well with them that they give it an ensemble nod, then I suppose he can sneak in. After all, 'The Screen Actors Guild' is a very socially conscious group. It all depends if Day Lewis is name-checked here. His film and 'The Post' were both late screeners, so who knows? Also, I'm betting on Gyllenhaal being that odd-man 'Emily Blunt' nom that doesn't make the final Oscar Cut. (Without the BAFTA nod, of course.)
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
Margot Robbie - I, Tonya
Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird
Jessica Chastain - Molly's Game
Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water
Frances McDormand, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Damn right, I'm going that bold in predicting that Streep is shut out. Oh yeah, she'll still get in for that Oscar nod. But not here. Judi Dench could even upset her. After all, "Dame Judi" is still pretty popular with these blokes. Regardless, someone will take Meryl's SAG spot.
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
Armie Hammer - Call Me By Your Name
Willem Dafoe - The Florida Project
Jason Mitchell - Mudbound
Richard Jenkins - The Shape of Water
Sam Rockwell - Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
If Stuhlbarg is nominated alongside Hammer, then there's no way CMBYN still "doesn't have any chance" at hitting ensemble. If TSOW can get 3 acting noms including ensemble, then I don't see why CMBYN can't. I don't care If the cast is comprised of only 6 people. Strangers things have happened. But alas, I'm not entirely sure this is happening. I feel like the SAG could fall for Mudbound.
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
Tiffany Haddish - Girls Trip
Allison Janney - I, Tonya
Laurie Metcalf - Lady Bird
Mary J. Blige - Mudbound
Octavia Spencer - The Shape of Water
Self-Explanatory.
