Re: SAG Nominations

criddic3 wrote My thought would be Kevin Bacon in Murder in the First, a middling thriller with a performance by a well-respected actor giving a decent performance. Leto doesn't really have any scenes that fill his character development much except that last sequence, and even then he doesn't do al...

Re: New Developments III

I would have to side with those saying that witnesses would have had a very minimal affect on the outcome. Mitch McConnell's comments on the matter prove this without doubt. He says Trump is guilty but he acquitted him because he's no longer in office, a stupid argument that was sort of settled with...

Re: SAG Nominations

I keep thinking of Daniel Bruhl for Rush. Is Leto really any good in The Little Things? My thought would be Kevin Bacon in Murder in the First , a middling thriller with a performance by a well-respected actor giving a decent performance. Re: SAG Nominations

I think Glenn Close in Hillbilly Elegy is more comparable to The Judge . On paper yes. But Robert Duvall was a previous winner and Glenn Close is the most snubbed actress alive so I'm starting to feel that, as much as a horrible peace of film making this movie is, she will finally get her Oscar fro...

Re: SAG Nominations

Jared Leto strikes me as one of those filler nominees that show up most everywhere but fail to get in like Jennifer Aniston in Cake , Timothee Chalamet in Beautiful Boy , Daniel Bruhl in Rush and Leonardo DiCaprio in J. Edgar . He's not in the BAFTA longlist so he's not gonna get in BAFTA. Or he co...

It is interesting. I thought he was fine in the movie, but wasn't blown away by him. When the HFPA nominated him, I just thought it was that group's penchant for star-gazing. But he seems to have a real shot at the Oscar nod.

Re: National Board of Review

I thought the Midnight Sky was panned by critics. Who exactly voted for it to be among the ten best of the year? They've been big Clooney fans in the past (gave him Best Actor three times, gave Confessions of a Dangerous Mind a special award, gave Good Night and Good Luck Best Film, put Ides of Mar...

Re: List of submissions to the 93rd Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film

Apparently there are two "Miracle in Cell No. 7" movies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracle_in_Cell_No._7_(2019_Philippine_film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracle_in_Cell_No._7_(2019_Turkish_film) The Turkish one seems to be the submitted entry, in case anyone might be wondering. Th...

Re: Campaign 2020

Trump's crisis approval rating is 55%. Is this evidence that we are truly a majority-idiot country, or are people just too afraid to acknowledge that this pandemic isn’t being managed well? Denial is powerful. Probably both. Apparently the president is benefiting from people not paying as much atte...

Re: Campaign 2020

Yeah, I agree that it's an uphill battle for Bernie Sanders. His supporters are all over the place trying to sow doubts about Joe Biden's effectiveness and that he wouldn't be able to defeat Donald Trump. Yet they fail to see the flaws in their own candidate and how easy it would be for Trump to att...

Re: Campaign 2020

While this was going on, especially post-Nevada, the press was full-on "Sanders can't be stopped," which certainly concentrated the minds of those who were wary of his candidacy. And, it has to be said, Sanders did himself no favors during this period. His 60 Minutes interview was a doubl...
