'Darkest Hour' has been seen, and the screenings have been said to be lightly middlebrow and dry.

Re: Oscar Predictions & Race Discussion Thread - July to Toronto
The only way Timothee Chalamet gets nominated is if the rest of the year is such a fantastic flop for lead actors... which NEVER happens. There are always leading actors in the running. 2013 - Michael B. Jordan, Robert Redford, Tom Hanks, Joaquin Phoenix, Chadwick Boseman, Oscar Isaac, Idris Elba. ...

Re: Oscar Predictions & Race Discussion Thread - July to Toronto
Long shot. His age will most likely go against him :| It all depends on if the older/veteran actors fall flat, (which is very much possible.) Actors like; Washington, Hanks, Phoenix, Jackman and maybe even Oldman, (but I doubt he won't be nominated.) As a matter of fact, it might just take Washingt...

Re: Oscar Predictions & Race Discussion Thread - July to Toronto
Wait a tick, is Bryan Cranston leading or supporting? Everyone is saying he's a lead. But judging by 'The Last Detail', It seems like he's supporting, right? If it's a spiritual sequel, I'm pretty sure Carrel would be the lead. (I haven't read the book 'Last Flag Flying.') If Cranston is leading, th...

Re: Oscar Predictions & Race Discussion Thread - July to Toronto
Mark Rylance (Dunkirk) Have no clue why people keep predicting this. It just seems like people are really high on Dunkirk as of now because the film just came out, and Rylance won an Oscar recently. Predicting acting nominees for a film that isn't really dialogue heavy is kind of a stretch, especia...

He probably will. Like others have said, even If the film doesn't win Best Picture, he'll definitely win for Adapted Screenplay.Reza wrote:James Ivory has suddenly made a re-emergence at the age of 89 as producer and screenwriter of Call Me By Your Name.
Wonder if this film will finally win him an Oscar.

Re: Oscar Predictions & Race Discussion Thread - July to Toronto
This benefits Claire Foy more than anyone right now what with Saoirse Ronan's film in the ether and Margot Robbie's films looking like bubble contenders at best. 'A Fantastic Woman' is also appearing at Toronto in the 'Special presentations' area no less, so Daniella Vega isn't out of the water yet...

Re: Oscar Predictions & Race Discussion Thread - July to Toronto
Really shocked 'A Fantastic Woman' made it to the Festival. And I'm REALLY shocked 'Call Me By Your Name' made it to. Thought it would only appear at NYFF and maybe a few others. I'm starting to be really high on 'Downsizing', "SCREENING REACTIONS" be damned. It'll definitely be the 'Boyho...
