Can someone give a refresher on how the actor's branch handle their nominations? Do they receive a list of eligible films and a seperate list of eligible performers? When filling out their acting nomination ballots, is it up to each voter to determine whether to place a candidate in the leading or ...

It took a while writing the names down by using the pause feature between morphs. I'm stuck on the actress between Norma Shearer and Jean Harlow, and the one between Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine. I'm sure I've miss identified a few of the others as well. Shades of "You Can Count on Me&q...

Beatty honored with AFI career prize LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Warren Beatty had two words to describe his reaction at learning he would receive the American Film Institute's career honor: "Concealed weepiness." Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the institute announced Thursday that the Academy...

I've come up with 64 instances where two (or more) performers from the same film, competed against each other for an acting Academy Award. I'd be interested in anyone's preference in these head to head competitions. My picks are at the end of each year. 1935: Clark Gable, Charles Laughton, Franchot...

Ah, The Tokens - a doo-wop group from my youth. Those of us who would remember them, would also point to another of their hits not mentioned in the article: "Tonight I Fell in Love." What even Token fans probably wouldn't remember was their prettiest doo-wop ballad, "Please Write.&qu...

Anybody here have the DVD of Sweet Smell of Success? If you do, take a minute to go to chapter 6 time 37:18 to 37:22. It's a scene with Tony Curtis and David White at one of the NY nightspots. A stunning brunette walks by their table causing Curtis to ogle for a minute. Is it Julie Andrews? Sure lo...

I don't think there is much of a point to the exercise other than its tie-in to the NCAA tournament now going on. I agree about the Ad Campaign Bracketology being weak, that's why I didn't even mention it. If someone were to ask me what company used the "Just Do It" slogan, I don't believ...

I ended up with the same winner as researcher Matthew Shepatin, and I suspect some others will as well. There are some other tournament links at the bottom of the pa...

One of my teenage guilty pleasures is missing:

With that great Italian-American cast including Natalie Wood, Steve McQueen, Tom Bosley, Harvey Lembeck and Herschel Bernardi.
