“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2″
“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”
“Super 8″
“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”
“The Tree of Life”
I predict a snub for Hugo and a win for Super 8.

Re: What's everybody reading?
Last month I finished reading This is a Book by Demetri Martin. It's very funny. I recommend it to anyone interested in absurdity and irony. Right now I'm working on Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. It's pretty witty, heartwarming, and sometimes rather...

Re: New Developments III
Back in 2004 I programmed a poll that asked who people were voting that year and purposely dropped Bush from the options. Then I proceeded to call people who I knew were voting for Bush. I got my grandma to press "repeat options" five times.

Looks accurate. The shows on the conservative side are horrible.

Re: Alec Baldwin kicked off American Airlines flight
Normally airlines don't require you to turn off your phones until the plane taxis, which is understandable. Launching and landing an aircraft is the most critical point in flight. Though the chance is small, electromagnetic frequencies coming from cell phone use can cause instrument and radio interf...

Re: The Biggest Oscar Disappointments (Supporting Actress 70
If you look at the first post on all my posts here for the Oscar Disappointments it say IMO these are who should have won that year. So the posts are the winners IMO and I am just wanting to see out of the one's I have chosen what you guys think. But I do believe Ali MacGraw was brilliant and was m...

Re: The Tree of Life reviews
A lot can be said about this film. Very little can also be said about this filim. It all depends on your mindset. The film is a two-hour poem - symbolic, structured, minimal but evocative, almost like a song. There's an intro and an outro, verses, choruses, and a bridge all centered around the Tree ...

Re: 2011 Box-Office Predictions - Where we follow the money
I really hope SHAME can do well enough in theatres to possibly become the highest grossing NC-17 film. Right now that honor is held by SHOWGIRLS at $20 m followed by HENRY AND JUNE at $11 m. If the film is as good as the reviews say and Fassbender receives some award attention, I think passing $11 ...

Re: Personal Oscar Predictions
I distinctly remember The Reader being in the 40 percentile for the longest time, even well into award season. Did the score increase after the nomination (probably due to it being expanded)?

Re: Personal Oscar Predictions
I use both RT and Metacritic as a starting point. If I haven't seen it by that point, then I see what friends and family say about it - or I come to this board. But even that can be dangerous.

Re: New Developments III
Back in my days as a grocery store sales associate (fancy for cashier/bagger) I had to deal with a lot of EBT users. It's more restrictive than some people think. Alcohol and cigarettes are obvious exclusions. So are certain junk foods and luxury toiletries. Then the cashier is berated for not letti...

Re: Personal Oscar Predictions
Think of it like the work of Dali. Many consider his paintings to be surreal. Surrealist artists of the time and many of its modern advocators did/do not. Perhaps the same can be said about neorealism?
