One last Golden Globe observation, before filing this year to the archive: In the last 6 years there was only one winner from the Golden Globes to win the Best Picture Oscar (Slumdog Millionnaire). In an age where every critivcs group and industry award celebrates the same film(s), this is a big re...

I'm surprised no one mentionned Lone Scherfig yet as the possible fifth director nominee. In recent years, there were a lot of surprise nominees for British films: 2008: The Reader (picture + director noms) 2007: Atonement (picture nom) 2006: United 93 (direcor nom - the film is not entirely Britis...

Thanks, Magilla. So far, the calculations are not very exciting...

Too bad there were no 'for your considerations' at the screenplay categories. Last year, they mentionned Fozen River...

I must say I'm with rain bard on Ponyo. Although I'm not a big fan of Miyazaki, I LOVED this film a lot. It might be far less ambitious and pretentious than Howl's Moving Castle, but I enjoyed the innocence and the childlike imagination of the film. It’s really a film for kids, and watching it I di...

The cut off date doesn't matter. Studios would shift their end-of-year qualifiers to the new cut off date, precursors would shift their dates accordingly and we'd be in the same boat as before, except that we'd have even more months of rampant discussion. You're right of course. Therefor I suggest ...

Why do I care who wins the LAFCA Best Screenplay award? I haven't figured it out yet... What I DID find, were 5 things that bother me every year. 1. ...
