This was mentioned, but I didn't see it posted, so... From EmanuelLevy.com: Sweeney Todd A Opens December 21 Dark, haunting, and unified in theme and style, "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," Tim Burton horror-musical movie of Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece creation, is a b...

Not to fit into the crowd, but I actually was too. He and Ian Holm were the two actors who I had read the most about in terms of their voice-work. Needless to say, with O'Toole not on the list, I had to go with Holm.

but I continue to stand behind MY prediction that it will not win the Best Oscar for the film. It is just too gory. And we had that last year. The IMPRESSION of gore-- the meat pies, the chute down which the bodies fell-- suggested it, but the suggestion of it makes more impression than actually se...

About the "I should add that, all those Crash-haters out there, I can totally understand why you resent the film. I hope you didn't think my post was fired in your direction alone, necessarily. It was more towards Akash's blunt "You're wrong. It's just shit." comment that I was aimed...

And Green Mile , a film I, believe it or not, actually enjoyed, Oh, I believe it. :D Might as well say "I hate your taste in films", Akash. It be better than skipping around the darn thing. (I'd advise you didn't say it, actually. Makes for a better environment.) Edited By Big Magilla on ...

Finding Nemo ! Why is it not on this list? :p Lord of the Rings: Return of the King , hands-down. But then again, I have not seen Mystic River , so such a statement isn't all that fair, I think. Seabiscuit surprised me, especially with Big Fish , Cold Mountain , and Dirty Pretty Things waiting in t...

I still stand by my opinion. This thing is going to be a disaster, but the general public will eat it up. The worst part of it all is that people will think they "know" the musical because they sit through this dreck. Yes, sadly, I will agree. Someone in the featurette that anonymous quot...

Akash has a point. J.R.R. Tolkien was a military man and much of his creation of the world of Middle Earth occurred while he was in the trenches. Thus, there's a significant war-story bent to the entire production, including the camaraderie developed between the characters as they brave the horrors...

It was that you were pushing for Crash to win. That's what you basically said...and then you bit into the acclaim for GNGL and Brokeback Mountain, two films most here consider miles above Crash in terms of quality. I read your statement correctly. You may not have completely dissed the films, but b...

Lord of the Rings is sooo not a better any type of film than Saving Private Ryan , and that (of course) includes fantasy. I was considering asking you if you were crazy, but as I always say, to each his own. I've never bothered comparing the two (one being Ryan and the other being the whole trilogy...

Lord of the Rings is a better war film than Saving Private Ryan. I had fun too, Steph. You are awesome! Well, I guess if you count Lord of the Rings as a war trilogy, then yes , you are correct. Though War is not exactly the genre I've heard any three of the films (except maybe Return of the King )...

BEST ACTOR: Frank Langella in Starting Out In The Evening (runner-up: John Cusack in Grave Is Gone) Man. Langella's getting alot of love here. Maybe he's in hotter water than I thought. Also, glad to see the toss to Cusack. I read that this is his most touching performance yet. I'm interested to se...
