Let's not forget Jane Wyman, who never stood a chance of receiving a Kennedy Center Honor during her 1980s renaissance due to political circumstances.

Though I do remember reading somewhere that Ronald Reagan did enjoy watching Falcon Crest.

Come next January, a new set of gardeners, massage therapists, nannies, best friends, parents, siblings, etc., will experience something for the first time.

They will receive a ballot from an Academy member and be asked, "Can you fill this out for me?"

The good thing about Faye Dunaway's Oscar win is that it provided that classic photograph of her lounging by the pool the next morning at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

One is hard pressed to come up with another Oscar photo that stands out so iconically.

If you go to the Academy's website, you'll find pictures from the Governor's Awards that were handed out last night. One possible rationale for this new "Event" is that since there will be 10 Best Picture nominees next year, the show will need to find an extra 15 minutes+ to slot in intro...
