Clift, one of my favourite performances in one of my favourite American movies. Those who don’t care for it can suck it :D Lancaster is great too, but Monty’s performance is one for the ages. One of the great screen anti-heroes, a triumph of offbeat casting working a treat. Beyond Virginia Woolf I’...

Haven't seen The Jolson film but I cannot conceive that it would stop me from voting for Stewart. As already mentioned numerous times, this is screen acting at its greatest and most iconic. One of the great movie performances in one of the great American films.

Leo's shock reaction made me cringe, but the experience of her on stage with Kirk is one of the most surreal moments I remember at the Oscars, and made me hope we were in for an entertaining night. If only...!

Clearly this is Roger Deakins' best shot at the Oscar to date. True Grit is far from his best work, but it has the kind of sweeping, epic sprawl that usualy does well in this category. I'd be quite surprised if he doesn't win tomorrow.

Its only hearsay, which I never put much stock in, but a good friend of mine knows someone in the costume department on Chris Nolan’s Batman movies, who claims Christian Bale’s reputation as a dick is completely deserved. That said, I’ve always liked him as an actor – his performance in Empire of t...

Nice to have an Oscar year where only one of the acting frontrunners seems assured of a win. While its still very possible that Portman/Bale/Leo will all come out on top, at least there's a little suspense to enjoy. I can absolutely see Bening taking this, whatever the media have decided (I haven't...

Hmm, I'd guess Steinfeld has more screentime than most of the lead acting nominees this year.

I'm also a little surprised that Jeremy Renner has the smallest screentime to running time ratio of the bunch. I thought his role was larger than that.
