I had a feeling this came from across the pond. When did the work premiere at West End? kaytodd, I don't think the Tony noms have been announced yet. You are right Sonic. The will not be announced until Tuesday morning. However, I did a little research and found out it is nominated for several Dram...

I wasn't aware this had been done before. It is an interesting idea. The film was made with the stage cast and by the stage director, Nicholas Hytner, before it began its Broadway run at the Broadhurst on April 23. The play is nominated for Tonys which will be handed out next month. I understand th...

This is something obvious and it is hardly profound but I will say it anyway: I guess the talented filmmaker who did American Graffiti and the original Star Wars is gone forever. I don't know if the huge success of Star Wars caused him to focus on little else in his career or if did not like being ...

It is a shame Lucas is getting away with this, but there is one scene from the original trilogy I miss very much and am looking forward to seeing again in its original form. It is the scene near the beginning of Return Of The Jedi in which Jabba brings the whole gang out to the desert to force Luke...

I was optimistic about Cinderella Man in the weeks leading up to its release, both for the quality of the film and its box office (I saw it on DVD again a few weeks ago and I stand by my favorable review. One of my top ten 2005 releases.). I was dead wrong about its box office. Well Ron and Tom bet...

19E may want to consider being flexible in Daughtry's case. If the Fuel gig is still available, having Chris become their lead singer will be good for all three parties. Fuel gets a good lead singer, Chris becomes part of a band that already has good songwriters, and 19E and FOX get good publicity ...

I'm curious to know the obligations someone who goes deep into the AI competetion has to FOX and/or Project 19. I think fronting Fuel would be an outstanding career move for both Chris Daughtry and Fuel. But, is he now forbidden to do this? Is he obligated to be known as "Chris Daughtry from A...

I, and a lot of other people in New Orleans, were excited when Bruce Springsteen announced one of the first shows for him and his Pete Seeger Session band would be at this year's Jazzfest. Unfortunately, I did not get to go this weekend (one of my kids had a softball tournament on one end of town, ...

I think Kirsten is a good choice for this role. Sofia's script is based on a recent biography highly sympathetic to Marie Antoinette. She was a 14 year old girl with no education when her marriage to Louis XVI was arranged. The biography portrays her not as naive or innocent but as totally without ...

I understand this is not scheduled for US release until October but it is going to play at Cannes next month (in competition, no less). I am so looking forward to the reaction of French film writers and the public. An Italian-American has written and directed a film in which Americans play two icon...

If there is a market large enough to make production of this product feasible, good for Panasonic. But I wonder what percentage of the filmgoing public has a room in their home in which one can comfortably watch a show on a 103-inch screen.

Magilla, I think you (and the Academy) made the correct choice for 1949 with Olivia De Havilland for The Heiress. It is a wonderful performance and she dominates the film, being in nearly every scene. But last night I saw Edward My Son for the first time in nearly 20 years. I was reminded of how st...

My county, which is right next to New Orleans, reopened about three weeks after Katrina. The weekend after the county reopened, the first movie theatre in the metro area reopened as well, Hollywood Cinema 9 in Kenner. For the last few years, they have been showing Bollywood films on one of their sc...

Horrible visions are dancing through my head. I already mentioned Taylor singing "We will, we will rock you! Whoo, hoo!" He can then throw in one of his wonderful dance moves. What about Paris prancing around the stage singing "Another One Bites The Dust"? Or Kellie warbling &qu...

As bad as Idol is this season it has just gotten a lot less interesting. I try to imagine the people who will vote over and over every week for their favorite Idol performer. I have no idea if this is true, but I picture girls between the ages of 10 and 15. They are more likely to vote for someone ...
