I mis-spoke. I think I wrote that after having watched In Old Arizona, which was a chore to sit through, as was Hollywood Revue of 1929. Alibi is a bit tedious as well.

I did see an excerpt from The Patriot some years ago - can't recall where or when - maybe it was just the trailor - but it looked interesting.

They're always finding lost films in old houses somewhere. Maybe it'll turn up eventually.

I've seen them all and voted for The Broadway Melody by default as well. The Crowd was a 1927/28 nominee. The Passion of Joan of Arc, released in the U.S. in April, 1929 would have been my choice had it been nominated.

Voted for The Broadway Melody by default.

The Patriot is ''lost''. I have yet to see In Old Arizona and Alibi, both of which I have. Don't know if Hollywood Revue is ever shown or available!

All the films I really like were not nominated in this category. King Vidor's The Crowd, Von Sternberg's The Docks of New York and Victor Seastrom's The Wind.
