It appears I have gotten all the votes I'm going to get. I'll post these, but you're welcome to vote later if you have not already done so.
I will post the rankings of Oscar's most recent decade since that is the set that has more votes than any other, thus giving people time to vote in the rest.
1. The Departed (average 3.95)
*. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (average 3.95)
3. Million Dollar Baby (average 3.86)
4. No Country for Old Men (average 3.82)

It's very interesting to see what films top these on the overall list, but considering that fewer than half the people who voted on the above ten participated all the way through the beginning of Oscar history, the averages and comparisons aren't quite complete.

Wow. I've fallen behind on this. Sorry about the delay, folks.
Let's just do this. Everyone submit me your entire lists (excluding any you've already seen). There were 19 responses to my original request, 15 to my second, 10 for the third...so, at this rate, no one will rate any of the older films. So, if you started the first round, please submit. If you haven't voted yet, you're welcome to send input at any time.

I had only half the first group of voters voting in the second round, so I was giving them more time, but I guess they aren't going to respond any time soon. I'll post results only after we've gone through all 80 films...and I make sure everyone has voted. So, here goes:

I don't care how you feel about them as Best Picture winners. The list is just made up OF Best Picture winners. We're looking at the quality of the film itself.
As for "not seen", when I do not enter a score, it does not get added into the value. I use excel and what it does is it averages only the fields that have values, ignoring those that don't, so a score of 5, 4, 4, 5, 0 would be 4.5...

You can indicate it as "not seen".

What happens when we get to a film we haven't seen? Giving it no score makes it seem worse than awful.

BTW, OscarGuy, are we rating the movies themselves, or are we rating them as choices for Best Picture? I mean, I don't think that there is a single Best Picture winner that I've seen that I would rate a 1 as a movie itself, but there are films that I would rate a 1 as a Best Picture winner. Case in point: I think that both Crash and A Beautiful Mind are 2's as movies on their own terms, but I would rate them both a 1 as Best Picture winners, and not because I believe they beat worthier films (if To Kill a Mockingbird had beaten my favorite film, Lawrence of Arabia, for Best Picture, I would still rate it a 5). I just think that they were awful and glaringly stupid choices to hold the title of Best Picture.
