Oh thank goodness, I thought I was alone!

If I had won that Oscar, I seriously would have made a speech about how I'd have prefered to have my Oscar "handed" to me by a cartoon bee.

That doesn't even begin to express it.

God, I hate the sentimentalizing of the military, as if we were all living in a 1942 20th Century-Fox movie.

Oh well, since you have no interest.
They don't enlist to kill another human being, Akash. They enlist to serve and die for their country.

Ah yes, I forgot that soldiers die in war without anyone trying to kill them.

Yeah, I thought I'd throw in a little controversy. :p

They don't enlist to kill another human being, Akash. They enlist to serve and die for their country. Some enlist because they have few other options in their life and the military is the best they can do. Believe it or not, a lot of soldiers do good work.

The first two presenters were clearly "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" guys.

Plus, the queer soldiers are the ones who would rather be spending down time watching movies than raping Iraqi girls.

I have even less repect for gay soldiers, who enlist not only in a murderous institution, but an actively homophobic one as well.

Sorry to be such a downer.

But your point is a good one Penelope.

Not me, especially with the irony of a homophobic institution "presenting" an Oscar to a film about homophobia.

The whole reason I didn't think this would win because it's about a lesbian couple...
