They were married for 10 years and had three sons together. In fact he introduced her to Charles Bronson during the shoot of The Great Escape (1963). She left him for Bronson.

Beyond his iconic work in The Man from Uncle and his acerbic delivery in NCIS, he was always a delightful presence.

He died six days after his 90th birthday, working right up to the current actor's strike. Didn't realize he was a New Yorker. Didn't know or remember that Jill Ireland was his first wife.

I guess he's done about a thousand episodes of this NCIS thing, but, for anyone my age, he'll always be the very cool Ilya Kuryakin from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. -- a show burgeoning teen boys like myself watched religiously in the mid-60s.
