The award for Record of the Year won by Stan Getz & Astrud Gilberto in 1965 for the 1964 release was the last year in which only the artists who performed the song on the record were nominated.

1959–1965: Artist only.
1966–1998: Artist and producer.
1999–2012: Artist, producer, recording engineer and mixing engineer.
2013–present: Artist, producer, recording engineer, mixing engineer and mastering engineer.
The category has expanded to include eight nominees in 2019.

I checked to see if "The Girl From Ipanema" from Astrud Gilberto won the Grammy for Record Of The Year. It won over "Downtown" from Petula Clark, "I Want To Hold Your Hand" from The Beatles, "People" from Barbra Streisand, and "Hello Dolly!" from Louis Armstrong. 1964 must have been one of the all-time great years for music.

Indelible music from my youth. Doesn't seem she did much else of note, but that was plenty.
