Martin McDonagh’s Irish frenemies comedy-drama The Banshees of Inisherin was the overwhelming favorite with the New York Film Critics Online today, with wins for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Colin Farrell), Supporting Actor (Brendan Gleeson) and Best Screenplay.
The directing win was a tie with The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All At Once, one of only two other films to take home more than one award. Elvis was the other film; it took home Breakthrough Performer for star Austin Butler and for its use of music.
Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and Hong Chau (The Whale) were named Best Actress and Supporting Actress, respectively and the cast of Glass Onion: A Knives Mystery won Best Ensemble.
