First Winner Predictions

Post by Sabin »

Best Picture: The Power of the Dog
Best Director: Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog

Best Actor: Will Smith, King Richard
I don't think Cumberbatch is out though.

Best Actress: Nicole Kidman, Being the Ricardos
But really, it could be anyone.

Best Supporting Actor: Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Power of the Dog
I'm not comfortable predicting Troy Kotsur yet but I think he could end up winning.

Best Supporting Actress: Ariana DeBose, West Side Story
No idea who else it could be. I could see Buckley or Dunst taking it.

Best Original Screenplay: Belfast

Best Adapted Screenplay: Drive My Car
I wonder if Jane Campion is really going to take Oscars for producing, directing, and writing. I could see voters spreading the wealth and giving this one to Drive My Car.

Best Original Score: Dune
A coin flip between Jonny Greenwood and Hans Zimmer.

Best Original Song: “No Time to Die” / No Time to Die
Best Foreign-Language Feature: Drive My Car
Best Animated Feature: Encanto
Best Documentary Feature: Summer of Soul

Best Cinematography: The Power of the Dog
A pretty interesting three-way race, although I guess a case could be made for any of them. The entire slate is up for Production Design. I suspect that Ari Wegner will be written about enough to help her chances and Dune will have plenty of other places to pick up.

Best Film Editing: Don't Look Up
I'm torn between Dune and Don't Look Up. Usually, most editing = best editing which leads one to think Don't Look Up but they certainly do like behemoths.

Best Production Design: Dune
Best Costume Design: Dune
Best Makeup: Dune
Best Sound: Dune
Best Visual Effects: Dune
