This one is hitting me hard. A true titan of prose - unique and unforgettable. The White Album and Slouching Towards Bethlehem were essential to me and my development as a young writer, but for some reason, I was immediately reminded today of an essay she wrote about migraines that was just so memorable. She taught me that you can truly write about anything…if you write it well. R.I.P. Joan. Thank you for your words and for guiding us through all of this.
