Yeah, that’s weird to me. She should be showing up more. I don’t think her campaign peaked too early. I don’t think it really happened to anyone’s great attention. Kotsur is just a more exciting presence in the film. The race isn’t fully defined yet. She still certainly has a chance. Zero Academy voters have weighed in on their choices yet. She’s a previous winner who is well-liked in the industry and has a prominent role in a likely Best Picture nominee. These are good things.

Matlin is ok in the film. Don't know why there is buzz for her. Only Emilia Jones and Troy Kotsur shine in CODA.

It is possible that the film's early release has hurt her chances, as the field is pretty crowded this year. I liked her in the role, she has good chemistry with the rest of the cast and the family dynamic is interesting, but there might just be other performances getting more passion. Being hearing impaired, myself, it would be nice to see Matlin get a second Oscar nomination, but it might not happen.
