Paul Schrader is a toxic old man. I would be happy if none of his films ever attain popularity again.

This is a rare case where the critics' reactions are more positive than the initial tweets (which may not be great news for the film's commercial performance, but put that aside). I'm happy to see Oscar Isaac back to prominent serious work.
