I, of course, know who Fats Domino was, but what I didn't know was that his biggest hit, 1956's Blueberry Hill is actually from a 1941 Gene Autry western, The Singing Hill.

He refused to leave the New Orleans area decades ago and was initially thought to have been killed in Hurricane Katrina. George W. later replaced the National Medal of Arts that had been lost in the storm, originally awarded by Clinton.

This guy had a huge influence on popular music. My mom has some old Fats Domino 78s, so I know that was the kind of music she was dancing to while young. Good stuff, those songs.

His heyday was a bit before even my time, but it's impossible not to know his work (and, I'd say, love it). A legend.
