I know this is probably a little out of most of your tastes, but Vega was a fountainhead for so much of modern music, and his terror-filled narratives reflect our times quite well. I am actually surprised to learn how old he was; I read that he didn't mention his age during Suicide's ascent due to being much older than the other CBGB's crowd. A huge loss for music, as evidenced by the many tributes and accolades.
