I agree. No movie took more shit this year than New Moon because of its box-office success. It should be a shoo-in for the Razzies.

I think this also might be the year where New Moon sneaks in. Think about it, the two highest grossing movies of the year (until the final numbers for Avatar come in) are also nominees for the worst film of the year. That would make the whole year of overhyped overproduced summer "event" films worth the suffering.
"You are what you love, not what loves you." - Nicholas Cage; Adaptation
I think we all know G.I. Joe and Transformers are terrible movies, but they still made some money and whether we like it or not, have a fan base that consider them great (G.I. Joe to a lesser extent). If it was a crappy film your average John Doe could give two shits about, then I would consider the awards just raising the flag on the obvious. To someone more open minded to film like those on this board, Transformers is a crap cake. To someone like my little brothers and some of my co-workers, it was a delicious piece of Megan Fox and street smart robots.
At least this year didn't have a Hottie and the Nottie...

I think they'll (mostly) forget all about Bride Wars and go all-in for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Can you imagine the suspense of Transformers vs. G.I. Joe? Now there's a race. :p

Irvin, you know I love you, but why in God's good name would you waste time doing predictions for the Razzies?anonymous wrote:Some predictions:
You could be spending that time reading, say, a Jessica

Once again I bemoan the loss of the Harvard Lampoon awards aka the Razzies with balls.
These are easy targets. The Harvard Lampoons would have gone after loftier failures as well as thrown darts AT A few successes.
For me, the worst films of the year are not the stupid idiotic ones that the trailers make look so painfully obviously bad no one but a paid critic or someone with a lot of time on their hands would go to see them, but the films we wait all year for with great anticipation only to find they, too, are a waste of our time. The Harvard Lampoons would have nominated Nine and The Lovely Bones in every category along with several that aren't bad but aren't as good as they could have been. They would also consider performances that could well be nominated for Oscars. Sometimes a performance can be both the best and worst of the year.
Here's how the Lampoons would have gone:
TEN WORST PICTURES OF 2009
1. Nine (eight and a half overpaid actors who should know better - plus the other half of Kate Hudson)
2. The Lovely Bones (Little Children meets What Dreams May Come)
3. The Last Station (old people shouting)
4. Taking Woodstock (give it back)
5. The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (don't give it back)
6. A Serious Man (with an ending in need of serious re-writing)
7. A Simple Man (or the simplification of a classic)
8. My Sister's Keeper (or give me your kidney NOW)
9. Is Anybody There? (no, you putz)
10. The Hangover (or how act like an idiot for most of the movie and show up for your wedding on time and sober)
ROBIN WILLIAMS AWARD FOR MOST ANNOYING ACTOR (PREVIOUSLY THE KIRK DOUGLAS AWARD FOR WORST ACTOR)
Daniel Day-Lewis, Nine
CAMERON DIAZ AWARD FOR MOST ANNOYING ACTRESS (PREVIOUSLY THE NATALIE WOOD AWARD FOR WORST ACTRESS)
Cameron Diaz, My Sister's Keeper
MICHAEL SHANNON AWARD FOR MOST ANNOYING SUPPORTING ACTOR
(tie) Alfred Molina, An Education and Stanley Tucci, The Lovely Bones
BETTY WHITE AWARD FOR MOST ANNOYING SUPPORTING ACTRESS
(tie) Imedla Stanuton, Taking Woodstock and Betty White, The Proposal
MICHAEL BAY AWARD FOR MOST OUT-OF-TOUCH DIRECTOR
Rob Marshall, Nine
