It'll all come down to whether or not Obama wins. I don't think people really want to see a doc on how their president made it to the White House, be it history-making or not. It's just too much of a pat-on-the-back.

From the Huffington Post:

Ed Norton Prepping Obama Documentary
March 13, 2008

US actor Ed Norton and his Class 5 Films are producing a documentary about Democrat Barack Obama's historic bid for the White House, according to reports Wednesday in Hollywood.

The feature film planned for release in 2009 will focus on the political campaign of the Illinois senator, who is locked in a bitter fight with former first lady Hillary Clinton to be their party's nominee for president, industry daily Variety reported on its website.

The as-yet-unnamed documentary's co-directors Amy Rice and Alicia Sam have had their cameras rolling since an Obama trip to Africa in 2006, according to the report. He launched his presidential campaign shortly thereafter.

It was Obama's inspiring speech to the Democratic National Convention in 2004 that motivated Norton to do the film.

Isn't Cher still on her farewell tour? :D

I've seen Etheridge listed a couple places for Clinton, but I'll remove her for now.

Anger Management = Adam Sandler (see: juvenile young male audience who boost the box office tally for almost all Sandler films)

Something's Gotta Give = women who like romantic comedies (mostly Keaton's film and Keanu Reeves was in it)

The Departed = Leo DiCaprio and Matt Damon (see: The Bourne films remaking Matt Damon a star, and Leo remains a big star)

The Bucket List = I got nothing for this one.

Doesn't stop him from voting for it.
I know, but it does seem odd.

From the NY Times:

Mr. Obama has Arcade Fire, the popular indie-rock group who announced that the leading members would perform for him on Sunday at Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville. The city is not far from Ohio University and many of the younger voters that Mr. Obama seeks. (Aides to Mrs. Clinton, distressed that a band with many fans at the Clinton headquarters would join the line of supporters heading into the Obama camp, pointed out that the band was Canadian; in fact, while its members live there now, they grew up in Texas.)
============================

And from CNN:

– Add a few more stars to the long list of celebrities lining up behind Barack Obama.

The celebrated indie rock group Arcade Fire will perform two concerts for Obama in Ohio on Sunday and Monday in advance of the state’s crucial primary contest, CNN has learned. They’re set to perform at an Obama rally on Sunday in Nelsonville, southeast of Columbus, and again on Monday in Cleveland.

The Montreal-based group consists mostly of Canadians, but is fronted by Texas native Win Butler, who initially reached out to the campaign to organize the gig.

Butler made his support for Obama public in January after the New Hampshire primary, when he blogged a pointed, if somewhat profane, critique of Clinton's victory speech on the band's web site.

According to the music web site pitchforkmedia.com, the Arcade Fire frontman isn't the only high-profile indie celeb to endorse Obama: Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Conor Oberst, a.k.a Bright Eyes, have also jumped on the Illinois senator's bandwagon.

Apparently you guys missed the memo where Nicholson admitted he voted for Brokeback and was rather taken aback he had to say Crash.

And I'd say he has significant cultural impact...

His last four films have all be sizable hits. Anger Management, Something's Gotta Give, The Departed and The Bucket List. Obviously people still like him. (though he didn't really sell Departed, but still)
