Tár had a credited score even if most of the music in the film was not original, but Maestro has none. The music credit reads "Music by Leonard Bernstein" which it is. All songs and orchestral pieces were either written or performed by Bernstein or both. There is no original music in the film at all.
Yes but this is about Sound.
Sorry, rough day. Thought it was in reference to the shortlist for Score.
Hope today is better.

BTW, for future reference, here's where you can watch the shortlisted documentary films. Most are available, and the ones that aren't probably will be eventually, possibly even sooner for any that get nominated.
20 Days in Mariupol - PBS Documentaries streaming channel, rental, DVD
32 Sounds - Seems to be booking individual theatrical screenings, more as a museum piece
American Symphony - Netflix
Apolonia, Apolonia - does not seem to have US distribution currently
Beyond Utopia - rental
Bobi Wine: The People's President - Disney+ (you might be able to find this on Hulu at some point; The Mission, which wasn't shortlisted, is on Hulu, although listed as a TV series)
Desperate Souls, Dark City and the Legend of Midnight Cowboy - rental, DVD
The Eternal Memory - Paramount Plus
Four Daughters - rental
Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project - MAX, in a couple of weeks
In the Rearview - Film Movement seems to have picked it up, but haven't distributed yet.
Stamped From the Beginning - Netflix
Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie - Apple TV+
A Still Small Voice - not currently available
To Kill a Tiger - does not seem to have distribution

“Dance The Night” from “Barbie”
“I’m Just Ken” from “Barbie”
“What Was I Made For?” from “Barbie”
There is an Oscar nomination-worthy song in Barbie, and it's none of these. It's "Pink" sung by Lizzo towards the beginning of the film, the one that starts out "When I wake up..." You read that phrase, and you can hear it in your head, that's how effective the song is. The other songs serve as very important components to the film rather than just mere background (which is one of Barbie's strengths), and they're beautifully produced in that 80s-nostalgia style. But as SONGS, per se? They're... okay.

Also, forgot to even look earlier, but...Henry Sugar does survive the live short cut.

Apparently, these days, the Warren claque not only insists on nominating her, they choose the most obscure of her yearly credits. 80 for Brady was evidently too mainstream for them to select her for that.
Flamin' Hot, of course, is the biopic about the man who invented Flaming Hot Cheetos.

A) We had three years in a row where one film was nominated for international film and documentary (Honeyland, Collective, Flee) and I assume 20 Days in Mariupol will make it four in five. Interesting how that it seemed to never happen even when submissions/"buzz" seemed to suggest it could.

B) Surprised that Elemental couldn't make it for best sound.

C) Score is a nutty deep category

Someone at another message board wrote that a lot of Academy members are on restrictive diets and wouldn't even want to watch a documentary about amazing food.

You'd think with all the wealthy members of the Academy, a lot of them would be foodies.

If Barbie had made the VFX and sound lists, it could have been pushing towards a 15-nomination tally. Now it can't get there. Still, 13 wouldn't be unsurprising. Of course, ask La La Land how it feels to be top dog.

Getting such a big lump of info likely means I'm missing things, but thoughts at a glance:

Wiseman can't win enough awards from critics, but there's nothing he can do to crash the Oscar doc list.

In case anyone's wondering what the hell "The Fire Inside" from Flamin' Hot is...yes, you knew deep down: it's Diane Warren! Apparently, these days, the Warren claque not only insists on nominating her, they choose the most obscure of her yearly credits. 80 for Brady was evidently too mainstream for them to select her for that.

So, two songs from Barbie (likely What Was I Made For? and I'm Just Ken); sadly Warren; then, I'd guess, two more from among the Lenny Kravitz Rustin tune, and something from best picture possibilities -- Color Purple, Past Lives, Killers of the Flower Moon.

I have to say, the song unheard, I'm glad the Super Mario Bros. effort was bypassed. I wouldn't necessarily have watched it, but I'm happy I won't even be tempted.

Interesting collection of scores. Are they really going to waste a spot on John Williams' umpteenth rehash of Indiana Jones?

Not only Barbie is missing from make-up/hair -- the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel is also MIA. Not that it was going to win (once they bypassed the original film, the game was up), but it seemed a logical nominee.

My instinct about Godzilla Minus One being the ultimate visual effects winner remains viable.

Because the Sound branch has been the most antediluvian, I didn't trust them to include Maestro despite its clear quality (they passed on TAR last year). The Killer probably has a shot; they've long favored Fincher films. And Ferrari, I presume, will have at least some squealing tires, a decades-long fetish of the branch.

Killers and Oppenheimer didn't miss anything important today (Oppenheimer's effects exclusion was old news).

Everyone is talking about how Barbie missing for Makeup and VFX is the snub of the day.

The Color Purple -- an Oscar-y musical -- not making the cut for Best Sound, the one award they can be most counted on to win, is a terrible sign.
