During Motown's extraordinary 60s, every bit as important as seeing The Four Tops/Temptations/Supremes as the performing artists was seeing (Holland/Dozier/Holland) beneath the title as songwriters. Only Lennon/McCartney and maybe Goffin/King had the vast number of instantly-recognized hits as this team.

15 number one hits! Reach Out I'll Be There, You Can't Hurry Love, You Keep Me Hangin' On, I Can't Help Myself, How Sweet It Is -- a songwriting team that wrote any one of those would get a prominent obituary. These guys not only wrote all of them, they have a secondary list that'd make other songwriters envious.
